Cheese is a highly versatile and tasty food which can be used in the cooking of a wide range of dishes - including salads! Cheesy summer salads are refreshing and nutritious and, with over 700 British named cheeses, there are plenty to try. Here just a few examples of how to incorporate British cheese into a great summer salad:

Fresh cheese (e.g. cottage cheese) with tomatoes and cucumbers
Soft cheese (e.g. British Brie) with potatoes and chicken
Firm hard cheese (e.g. Cheddar) with fruits and nuts
Crumbly hard cheese (e.g. Cheshire) with couscous and vegetables
Blue cheese (e.g. Blue Stilton) with citrus fruits and green leafy vegetables
Blended cheese (e.g. Wensleydale & Cranberries) on warm bread with salad leaves

Try one of the cheesy salad recipes listed on this page - they are all easy to prepare and combine fresh ingredients to deliver a healthy and flavoursome meal. If you create your own, make sure to read up on the different tastes and textures of British cheese on our information page.

Whichever one you decide to use in your summer salad, remember that cheese is a nutrient-rich food and a source of protein, calcium, phosphorus and vitamin B12.
