2nd June 2017: Cheese veteran Tim Rowcliffe has been awarded the annual British Cheese Board Cheese Industry Award 2017 at the Royal Bath and West Show in recognition of four decades of influence in shaping the industry.

He is the founding corporate member of the Guild of Fine Food Retailers, former chairman of the Specialist Cheese Makers Association (SCA) and currently a judge and founding member of the British Cheese Awards.

The annual Cheese Industry Award recognises individuals who have dedicated their career to the cheese industry and have provided an invaluable contribution to the sector.

The award was presented at the Royal Bath and West Show by food and drink broadcaster Nigel Barden.

Nigel Barden, said: “Tim has been in the business for 40 years. His father’s dream was to make speciality British and continental cheese available from every high street in the country – and Tim has been instrumental in making this a reality.

“Tim has introduced numerous cheeses to the UK which we take for granted today. He has established strong relationships with cheesemakers, championing the farmhouse producers and supporting them through thick and thin.

“He works with the integrity that he looks for in a product. His charisma and dedication has brought committed support and interest from every sphere always raising the profile of speciality cheese – that’s why Tim is this year’s very worthy winner of the Cheese Industry Award.”

Award-winner, Tim Rowcliffe, said: “This year Anthony Rowcliffe & Son is celebrating its 50th year in business and winning this award is a very proud moment for both myself, and the company. The cheese industry has always been a big part of my life, and it is an honour to be recognised by my peers.”
